Release Strategy & Distribution Setup

The unglamorous half of a release, done properly — timeline, metadata, registrations and distribution set up before the deadline.

Most releases underperform for administrative reasons. Delivered too late for editorial consideration, registered incorrectly, or uploaded with metadata that quietly costs royalties for years.

Planned backwards from release day

We build a timeline from your street date with the deadlines that actually matter: distributor delivery for editorial consideration, pre-save launch, and asset readiness for each stage of the campaign.

Setup covered

  • Distributor selection and account setup
  • ISRC and UPC allocation and registration
  • Metadata, credits and contributor roles
  • Artwork specification and delivery checks
  • Pre-save links and release-day infrastructure

Frequently Asked Questions

How far ahead should I deliver a release?

At least four weeks before street date for editorial consideration, and longer if a full campaign is planned around it.

What are ISRC and UPC codes?

ISRC identifies each individual recording and UPC identifies the release as a product. Both are required for distribution and royalty tracking.

Does metadata really affect royalties?

Yes. Missing or inconsistent contributor and rights metadata is one of the most common causes of unpaid or misallocated royalties.

Do you choose the distributor?

We recommend one based on your goals, catalog size and territories, then handle the setup.
